Bowness-on-Solway > Wallsend
We have four Expedition Treks on the calendar for 2023. The maximum number of walkers on each 'Bowness > Wallsend' expedition is 12 - in either 'Twin Tents'** accommodating two persons or 'Solo Tents'* accommodating one person. Trekkers don't have to walk as a group, but are free to walk at a time of their own choosing, in whatever company they prefer, self-guided with their map, to the destination prepared for their arrival. Each person on a Trek brings two bags with them - a small daysac for walking with and a main bag that we transfer between camps and a pick-up point in Newcastle on the final day.

70 miles - Bowness-on-Solway < > Heddon-on-the-Wall

Three Distance Choices
All three options take in Walltown, Winshields Crags, Steel Rigg, Peel Crag, Sycamore Gap, Sewingshields Crags, the Milecastles, Turrets, Bridges, Forts... but the shorter distance itineraries provide more time to explore other Sites of Interest along the way.

55 miles - Carlisle < > Heddon-on-the-Wall
For those who prefer a more leisurely walking pace, or shorter daily walking distances (8 - 10 miles a day) and want time to visit the likes of Carlisle Castle, Tullie House Museum, Carlisle Cathedral, Lanercost Priory, Birdoswald, the Roman Army Museum, Aesica, Vindolanda, Housesteads Fort and Chesters Fort.

70 miles - Bowness-on-Solway < > Heddon-on-the-Wall
This takes in the extent of the Trail following the original route of the Roman Wall and therefore includes the section along the Solway Firth. Averaging 10 -12 miles walking a day, it still allows ample time to visit Sites of Interest along the way.

84 miles - Bowness-on-Solway < > Wallsend
A popular choice for those whose aim is to walk the entire length of the Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail - focusing particularly on the walking element (14 - 16 miles a day) and yet still experiencing the historic interest along the way. Assuming you are comfortable averaging a steady walking pace covering two miles (3kms) an hour over the length of a day - if you are, this should be within your capabilities.
